Coffee and Doughnuts with the Mayor – Wednesday, May 1, at 10:30 a.m.
Come have refreshments with the Mayor and see a special proclamation in honor of Older American’s Month.

Cinco de Mayo Craft – Friday, May 3, at 10:45 a.m. 
Make lovely centerpieces for Cinco de Mayo.

Basic Flower Arranging – Monday, May 13, at 12:30 p.m. 
Learn how to arrange flowers like a pro, and how to keep your bouquets fresher for longer.

Truman Square Walking Tour – Tuesday, May 14, at 12:30 p.m. 
Follow in Harry S. Truman’s footsteps with this short walking tour of the Historic Independence Square.

YA-YA FARM – Wednesday, May 15, from 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.  
Learn about Alpacas, their fiber, and how the fiber is used for making products. You’ll have the opportunity to pet, feed, and take pictures with these gentle animals. Enjoy an included lunch at Reynold’s Café with your choice of grilled chicken or roast beef, served with mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, Texas toast, and a beverage. Price: $72

Virtual Zoo – Thursday, May 16, at 10:00 a.m. 
See live animals from the comfort of the Palmer Center through live streams.

Senior Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program – Monday, May 20, at 12:30 p.m. 
A representative of MU Extension will be at Palmer Center to assist with signing up for free vouchers for fresh produce.

New Theatre | Squabbles – Wednesday, May 22, from 10:15 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. 
Enjoy a wonderful lunch buffet followed by the hit comedy.

Community Gardening – Thursdays, May 23 & June 27, at 12:30 p.m. 
Do you like to garden, or want to learn how? Join the garden group on the fourth Thursday of the month!

Fishing Rod Casting Contest – Wednesday, May 29, at 3:00 p.m. 
Do you have good aim with a fishing rod? Compete to win a special trophy. Co-Sponsored by George Owens Nature Park.

Tea Party with a Vaile Historian – Thursday, May 30, at 10:30 a.m. 
Dress up and have some tea while a special guest from the Vaile Mansion tells stories from the past.

Summer Kick-Off on the Patio – Friday, May 31, at 10:30 a.m. 
Kick-off the summer with snacks and crafts on the patio!

June events with a May registration deadline:

Disney Daydreams – Marceline, MO on Thursday, June 20, from 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.                                                                    
Tour the Walt Disney Hometown Museum located in the heart of Marceline, MO where Walt Disney grew up. After visiting the museum, enjoy an included lunch at JJ’s on Main with your choice of a hamburger, cheeseburger, or grilled chicken sandwich with tater rounds and a beverage. Our next stop will be the Disney Family Farm where you can view the barn and Walt’s “Dreaming Tree,” where Walt would often sit and draw or imagine stories. You’ll have free time on Mainstreet to browse the unique shops before returning to Independence.
