‘I Love Independence’ video contest now taking submissions
Lights, camera, action! City of Independence Mayor Rory Rowland is looking for filmmakers and shakers in our community to tell the amazing stories of Independence.
The City of Independence has partnered with the Independence Chamber of Commence to hold an ‘I Love Independence’ video contest. Those entering the contest are tasked with showcasing the reasons they love Independence – whether that be our history, a hidden gem, a legendary tale, a special event or whatever they believe makes Independence so special.
“Independence has a rich tapestry of stories that make this City truly remarkable. Our community embodies the spirit of resilience and innovation and it’s time to showcase those stories through the lens of creativity,” Mayor Rory Rowland said. “Everyone has heard the stories of Harry S. Truman or the trails West, it’s now time to spotlight the lesser known stories of what has made Independence the community it is today.”
The contest is open to those of all skill types and age levels, from high school and above. Video submissions are open until July 4, 2024. Winners will be selected based on a public vote, allowing the community to vote for their favorite video in each category.
Top winners in each category will receive a cash prize or scholarship, as well as a trophy.
Special awards will be given for international submissions, stories promoting racial diversity and videos showcasing the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in their content creation.
