Independence leader honored with influencer award from ELGL
Independence leader Zach Walker has been honored with this year’s Top Influencers in Local Government Award from the Engaging Local Government Leaders (ELGL).
The ELGL is a professional association for more than 4800 members representing all levels of local government in five countries, including the U.S. Founded in 2012, the group recognizes 100 people who make a difference in their local communities through values of creativity, dependability and connection.
The group honored Walker with the Top Influencers Award last week for his achievements as the City Manager of Independence. In addition to financial stability and growth, Walker is working to improve the services for its residents.
Rory Rowland, mayor of Independence, congratulated Walker on his award.
“We’re very proud of this recognition for Zach,” Rowland said in a statement. “It's well-deserved. One of Zach’s best characteristics is his collaborative nature. His ability to listen to everyone, then bring them together on common ground speaks volumes about his leadership and vision for our city.”
Walker joined the city in 2012. He has served as the Management Analyst and Assistant City Manager before he was appointed to City Manager in 2016.
