Public Education with the Independence Fire Department
The Fire Prevention Division is responsible for presenting fire safety programs for all citizens of Independence. The Fire Department staff can present fire prevention and emergency preparedness information for age groups 3 years and older.
Many programs are presented at Fire Station #1 (24 Highway and Spring Street) and they consist of station tours, truck or pumper demonstrations, video and fire safety talks, etc..
Presentations for individuals at the home, neighborhood groups, or businesses can be arranged.
Presentations in the work setting usually are directed toward the business services and associated fire safety hazards. Warehouses, group homes (staff/residents), medical offices, restaurants are examples of workplaces the Fire Prevention Division staff will visit and present fire safety education programs.
