Lodging Permitting

The City of Independence regulates lodging facilities. Lodging requirements are covered under City Code Chapter 11, Article 17 and the State lodging manual. All lodging establishment operators are required to obtain a permit from the City of Independence and the State of Missouri.

Lodging establishment permit fees are $300 annually. Lodging establishment inspections are conducted twice annually and on a complaint basis.

Lodging establishments may require multiple permits if food service is offered or if a pool is on the premises. To apply for a permit, visit the Health Department at Independence City Hall or call 816-325-7803.
