United Nations Peace Plaza and Fountain

On the corner of Lexington Avenue and Walnut Street in Independence, Missouri a Peace Plaza commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the United Nations and serving as the only memorial in the world to those persons serving in the Peacekeeping Forces of the United Nations has been developed.  In addition to the lovely bronze casting of a young woman releasing a dove, the flags of the USA, the United Nations and the State of Missouri are displayed.  The courtyard of the plaza is paved with bricks that have been purchased by persons supporting the plaza and memorializing loved ones.
